Waterford Speedbowl 10/22 Smacktoberfest Results

Waterford, CT (October 22, 2011)  Waterford Speedbowl closed out the 2011 season with a bang at Smacktoberfest, its final event of the year.  Among the activities on the night were the Wacky Race championships, $1,000.00 to win Enduro races for each full size and four-cylinder cars, the always wild Speedbowl Trailer race and a Demolition Derby.

Champions were crowned in the final Wacky Races of the year.  The respective point leaders in each the Super X-Car and X-Car season standings survived the final craziness of the year to clinch the titles.  Dan Moon of Exeter, RI earned the Super X-Car championship and Kristie Hamel of Jewett City was the wackiest X-Car competitor of the year.

In the 100-lap Enduro races, Tom Abele Sr. of Norwich won the $1,000.00 prize in the four-cylinder race and Rob Corey of South Windsor took home $1,000.00 in the full sized car race.  They were each awarded their victories after the apparent event winners were found with illegal parts during post-race technical inspection.

The Speedbowl Trailer race saw the wild and unpredictable decent on the three-eighths mile shoreline oval to do battle to the final car and trailer combo was running.  In the end after a grueling display of destruction, Chris Logan of Middletown was the survivor to take the win.

Tim Dubois won the evening’s Demo Derby after some of Detroit’s finest fabrication delivered some richter-scale hits in front of the Speedbowl crowd.
