Waterford, CT (August 29, 2014) – The highly anticipated GM Night was the center of attention for the popular weekly Spectator Drag Racing and Car Cruise Show, Sho & Go at the Bowl. Two awards were up for grabs in the Car Cruise Show on our Midway and four classes of Spectator Drag Racing showcased the on-track action part of the unique combined events which feature FREE GRANDSTAND ADMISSION.

Before the single round elimination Spectator Drag Racing got under way focus shifted to the popular midway Car Cruise Show, where the fans voted on the winners. A fan vote was cast for Best in Show and Best GM in Show. It was Jacqueline Rogers of Norwich with her 2003 Honda Accord winning Best in Show. The special Best GM in Show went to Jerry Griffin with his popular bright yellow 2008 Saturn Sky, that also featured a scaled down model of him, his dog and the car on top of his engine.

Four classes of bracket drag racing featured the regular Street, Competition and Bike Classes plus a special GM Shootout. Making the Street Class Eliminator semi-finals was Jon Tisdale paired against current point leader Matt Viscione of New London with his trusty 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. Rookie Adam Lewis of Stonington with his 2014 GMC Sierra All-Terrain received the BYE run. Advancing to the finals was Viscione who defeated Tisdale on a red light. Viscione would grab the Street Class victory after Lewis was penalized for a red light violation of -.00791 seconds.

The Competition Class Eliminator semi-finals featured Warren Wright of Salem with his 1980 Chevy Malibu against rookie Charles Cirrito of Norwich with is 1969 Firebird. Current points leader Paul Holmes of Clinton with his 1973 Chevy Nova SS received the BYE run. Cirrito would advance against Wright who had a red light violation of -.05644 seconds. Cirrito, making his first Competition Class finales would battle Holmes. In a tight fender to fender duel it was Holmes pulling off another win in 2014 and extending his point lead in the class.

The Bike Class semi finals saw Jayson Barba on his 1986 Suzuki LT250R paired against rookie Austin Fargo. Jenna Barba on her 2008 Can Am DS90 received the BYE run. Jayson Barba would advance from the semi finals to match up against younger sister Jenna Barba for a sibling battle to take top honors. Jenna would eventually defeat her older brother Jayson who received a penalty for breaking out with a 2.81030 on a 2.85 dial-in to move into victory lane for the 5th time in 2014.

Following regular class eliminations the popular GM Shootout took to the track featuring any and all GM vehicles in competition. Making the semi-finals was Adam Lewis in his 2014 GMC Sierra All-Terrain against Richard Dubina of Chaplin in his 1967 Chevy Nova SS. Current Competition points leader Paul Holmes was paired against Street Class points leader Matt Viscione. Ernie Bogue of Oakdale with his 1968 Chevy Camaro was paired again Charles Cirrito in his 1969 Firebird. Dubina, Holmes and Bogue would advanced, however Dubine would suffer mechanical issues following his semi-final run making for a finals pairing of Holmes and Bogue. In a fast, thrilling, fender to fender photo finish Bogue would capture victory to end the night of action.

Quick scheduling update’s: The originally scheduled Imports Night has been moved to Friday, September 5th. Drag racing has been added to the Jammin 107.7 Motor Jam 2014 to be held on Sunday, September 7th. Complete event details and schedule are available here. This event will have a cap of 48 entries on a first come first serve basis on the day of the event. Pre-registration is available to all weekly Sho & Go drivers who are currently top-15 in Sho & Go point standings for their respective class. Quick event notes: Helmets are no longer required for racer’s in the Street and Competition Class that run a ET of 2.75 or slower. All competitors running ET of 2.75 or faster, in an open cockpit car or convertible and Bike Class it is still mandatory to wear an approved helmet.

Sho & Go at the Bowl action returns next Friday, September 5th with Imports Night and runs weekly every Friday thru September 27th. Spectator Drag Racing Car Show rolled into one event to kick start your weekend featuring FREE Grandstand Admission!! Spectator Drag Racing will include Competition Class, Street Class, Bike Class + All-Import Shootout. Car Cruise Show Awards with winners voted by the fans for Best In Show and a special Best Import in Show. Pits and Midway open at 6:00pm with action beginning at 6:30pm. The Fan Vote Car Cruise Show award winners will be announced at 8:10pm, opening ceremonies at 8:25pm and single round drag racing elimination events starting at 8:30pm.
