Friday 7/25 Sho & Go with Junior Shootout Results
Waterford, CT (July 25, 2014) – The popular Drag Racing and Car Cruise Show, Sho & Go at the Bowl was the center of attention at the Connecticut shoreline Friday night under chamber of commerce weather. Two awards were up for grabs in the car cruise show and four classes of spectator drag racing were on hand plus a special Cassidy Father vs. Son grudge match.
Before the single round elimination drag racing got under way focus turned to the popular midway car cruise show, where the fans voted on the winners. A fan vote was cast for awards Best In Show and Best Interior. It was Derek Moruan earning the fan vote for Best in Show with his 1971 Chevy C-10 and Ken Cassidy Jr. of Lisbon winning the fans over for Best Interior with his 1982 Chevy S-10.
Four classes of bracket drag racing featured the regular Street, Competition and Bike Classes. In addition a special Junior Shootout and Ken Cassidy Sr and Ken Cassidy Jr grudge match that featured heads up drag racing in their personal vehicles.
In the Cassidy father vs. son grudge match the first pass went to Cassidy Jr. in his 1982 Chevy S-10. The second pass saw Cassidy Sr. in his 1950 Ford Coupe take the outside lane and grab the win. The final pass for the win went to Cassidy Sr. as Cassidy Jr. broke a throttle linkage on the green light and couldn’t get up to speed. The Street Class Eliminator saw Matt Viscione of New London and Tom ‘T-Bone’ Stone of Niantic in the final round with Stone of grabbing the win over the current points leader with a nearly perfect reaction time of 0.00191 seconds. The Competition Class Eliminator saw Warren Wright of Salem paired against Rick Taylor of Uncasville with Taylor taking top honors for his first win of 2014 after Wright red-lighted during the final round. In the Bike Class Eliminator it was current point leader James Tedford of Deep River paired against Jon Tisdale of East Hartford making his first appearance of the 2014 season and would end up claiming his first Friday night win of the 2014 season. In the Junior Shootout Joe Merchant of South Windham and Jenna Barba of Branford would be paired in the final round with the victory going to Barba.
Quick scheduling update’s: The originally scheduled GM Night has been moved to Friday, August 29th with Imports Night being moved to Friday, September 5th. Drag racing has been added to the Jammin 107.7 Motor Jam 2014 to be held on Sunday, September 7th. Stay tuned for more details on this added event.
Quick event notes: Helmets are no longer required for racer’s in the Street and Competition Class that run a ET of 2.75 or slower. All competitors running ET of 2.75 or faster, in an open cockpit car or convertible and Bike Class it is still mandatory to wear an approved helmet.
Sho & Go at the Bowl action returns next Friday, August 1st with Ford Night and runs weekly every Friday thru September. Spectator Drag Racing Car Show rolled into one event to kick start your weekend featuring FREE Grandstand Admission!! Spectator Drag Racing will include Competition Class, Street Class, Bike Class + Ford Shootout. Car Show Awards voted by the fans for Best In Show and Best Ford In Show. Pits and Midway open at 6:00pm with action beginning at 6:30pm. The Fan Vote Car Cruise Show award winners will be announced at 8:10pm, opening ceremonies at 8:28pm and single round drag racing elimination events starting at 8:30pm.
