Friday 6/27 Sho & Go with Junior Shootout Results
Waterford, CT (June 27, 2014) – The popular Drag Racing and Car Cruise Show, Sho & Go at the Bowl was in action at the Connecticut shoreline Friday night with one of the best weather nights thus far this season. Two awards were up for grabs in the car cruise show and five classes of spectator drag racing were on hand with repeat winners and new faces both reaching the victory lane.
Before the single round elimination drag racing got under way focus turned to the popular midway car cruise show, where the fans voted on the winners. A fan vote was cast for awards Best In Show and Best use of Color. It was Frank Brown of Griswold earning the fan vote for Best in Show with his 1934 Ford Rat Rod and Butch Kolashuk of Waterford with his 1957 Ford Thunderbird named ‘Heartbreak’ that boasted a bright, deep metallic blue paint job to win Best use of Color.
Five classes of bracket drag racing featured the regular Street, Competition and Bike Classes. In addition a special Junior Shootout was added to the racing card and allowed young racer’s in the bike class more experience on the 100′ track. The night of racing concluded with the running of the postponed Friday, 5/30 Street Class Eliminator.
In the Street Class Tom ‘T-Bone’ Stone of Niantic won his second consecutive event in his 2000 Toyota Camry over rookie Adam Lewis. In the Competition Class Paul Holmes of Clinton earned his fourth win of the 2014 season in his 1973 Chevy Nova over Tom Bischoff. In the Bike Class it was 2012 class Champion James Tedford of Deep River earning his third win of the 2014 season on his 2002 Honda 300ex over Joe Merchant. In the Junior Shootout in was a sibling rivalery as the final round would setup Jason Barba against younger sister Jenna Barba; Jason would prevail for the win by a very small margin at the line. The postponed Friday, 5/30 Street Class Eliminator went to current point leader Matt Viscione of New London in his 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt over Ryan Flanders.
Quick scheduling update’s: Sho & Go at the Bowl is off for Friday, July 4th. A Sho & Go Sunday Special has been added to Sunday, July 6th. Complete details can be found here. Friday, July 11th has been removed from the Sho & Go schedule. The originally scheduled GM Night has been moved to Friday, August 29th with Imports Night being moved to Friday, September 5th. Sho & Go at the Bowl action returns next Sunday, July 6th with a Sunday Special. Spectator Drag Racing Car Show rolled into one event to end your 4th of July weekend featuring FREE Grandstand Admission!! Spectator Drag Racing will include 2 Rounds Competition Class, 2 Rounds Street Class, 2 Rounds Bike Class + Traffic Light Showdown and Challenges. Car Show Awards voted by the fans for Best In Show and Best Club Participation. Pits and Midway open at 2:30pm with action beginning at 3:00pm. The Fan Vote Car Cruise Show award winners will be announced at 4:45pm with drag racing elimination events starting at 5:00pm.
