Waterford, CT (June 20, 2014) – The popular Drag Racing and Car Cruise Show, Sho & Go at the Bowl was in action at the Connecticut shoreline Friday night in front of the largest crowd of the season. Two awards were up for grabs in the car cruise show and five classes of spectator drag racing were on hand with repeat winners and new faces both reaching the victory lane.

A new addition to the Sho & Go program made it’s debut tonight. Added to our custom built pro tree were LED Amber bulbs, a standard among all NHRA and IHRA tracks. These bulbs were sponsored by Quick Sandblasting of Uncasville. This is one of a few new additions to equipment planned for a scheduled roll out during the 2014 season.

Before the single round elimination drag racing got under way focus turned to the popular midway car cruise show, where the fans voted on the winners. The largest fan vote to date was cast for awards Best In Show and Longest Drive; which was changed to highest mileage due to a typo on a form and all cruisers put mileage instead of distance. It was Buzz Olander of Uncasville earning the fan vote for Best in Show with his 2009 Dodge Challenger and Bill Bradham of Montville with his 1955 Crown Vic Pickup with well over 280,000+ miles.

Five classes of bracket drag racing featured the regular Street, Competition and Bike Classes. In addition a special second Street Class Eliminator was added to the racing card and allowed racer’s in that class another chance at a trophy. The night of racing concluded with the running of the postponed Friday, 5/30 Bike Class Eliminator.

In the Street Class Matt Viscione continued his dominance with remaining undefeated in 2014. In the Competition Class Paul Holmes earned his third win of the 2014 season. In the Bike Class it was 2012 class Champion James Tedford earning his second win of the 2014 season. In the second Street Class Eliminator Tom ‘T-Bone’ Stone put an end to Matt Viscione’s undefeated streak by knocking Viscione out in the semi-finals and going on to win the finals over first time racer Tim Athey. The postponed Friday, 5/30 Bike Class Eliminator went to Jenna Barba, who has now moved to second in the point standings for the Bike Class.
